The Classical and Ballad Legend Not many artists could handle the chromatic harmonica as incredibly well as Jean-Baptiste Fréderic Isidor, Baron Thielemans, better known as Toots Thielemans. He was the most iconic Jazz harmonica player of the 20th century and played with artists like Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, and Jaco Pastorius. He served as a great influence to many others, including John Lennon. To honor this Jazz legend with only one instrument would have not done him justice, which is why we teamed up with him and designed two instruments to his specifications. The Toots Mellow Tone is the first of the two, with short slot reeds and thin reed plates for a rich, warm sound perfect for ballads. Wooden comb The wooden comb ensures a warm, rich sound and is lacquered to eliminate swelling Special cover plates The cover plates are embossed with Toots' signature and a serial number Chrome-plated mouthpiece Outstanding sliding properties thanks to the chrome plating Coated reed plates The coating allows for a better articulation and fast and precise response of single notes Technical details Reed plates (material, thickness): brass, 1.05 mm Reed plates (surface): nickel Reeds (number, material): 48, brass Comb (material, color): pearwood, brown Comb (finish): double lacquered Mouthpiece (surface): chrome Cover plates: stainless steel Slide construction: straight Keys: C Type: chromatic Tuning: chromatic Number of holes: 12 Tonal range: 3 octaves, C4 – D7 Length: 15.5 cm / 6.1"
